Job Description:
We are looking for a talented Layout Artist to join our team. The Layout Artist will be responsible for designing scene layouts that serve as the backbone for our animation projects. This role requires a deep understanding of spatial composition, camera movement, and the fundamentals of storytelling through visuals. The ideal candidate will have experience in animation layout, a strong artistic eye, and the ability to translate storyboard frames into dynamic and functional scenes.
Responsibilities:
- Create scene layouts according to the established style and narrative of the project.
- Interpret storyboards and rough sketches to establish scale, perspective, and composition of backgrounds and character positioning.
- Work closely with the Directors and other artists to ensure that the visual continuity of scenes is maintained.
- Design layouts for multiple projects, ensuring that each is completed on time and to a high standard.
- Utilize software tools like Maya, Photoshop, and Unreal Engine to construct scenes that are both aesthetically pleasing and technically accurate.
- Adjust elements within the scene to reflect changes in direction and to meet technical constraints.
- Participate in regular reviews and be open to feedback and revisions as required.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments to resolve issues that arise during the production process.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Layout Artist in animation or a related field.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a keen eye for composition, perspective, and color.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, Photoshop, and Unreal Engine.
- Understanding of cinematic techniques, including camera settings and movement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Degree in Animation, Film, Art, or a related discipline is preferred.
